The Nigeria Senate on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the nomination of Umaru Farouk Aminu as a full-time Commissioner representing North-West geopolitical zone in the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who presided over Tuesday’s plenary in the absence of Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has confirmed the nominee.
The confirmation followed a satisfactory report by the Chairman, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.
Shekarau who represents Kano Central Senatorial district explained that the nominee was earlier screened by the Committee and found satisfactory to join the pension commission, saying the zone he was supposed to represent was still vacant.
Furthermore he said, the PenCom act made provision for the six geopolitical zones of the country to produce Commissioners.
“That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters on the confirmation of the nomination of Umaru Farouk Aminu for appointment as a full-time Commissioner representing the North-West geopolitical zone in the National Pension Commission”.
Senators who contributed confirmed that there was no petition against the nominee saying he should be confirmed without delay.
