NAFDAC Approves Use Of Moderna And Sputnik COVID-19 Vaccines In Nigeria

The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control has approved the use of  Moderna and Sputnik COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria.

Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Moji Adeyeye, made the announcement on Thursday July 15, said the vaccines were approved for emergency use.

Professor Adeyeye noted that though Sputnik vaccine which is produced in Russia has not yet been approved by the World Health Organisation, NAFDAC has carried out independent checks on the vaccine and found that the benefits outweigh the risks.

The agency had earlier approved the Oxford-Astrazeneca and Pfizer jabs, also for emergency use.

Let them be approving and disapproving the ones other nations are producing, It is a shame Nigeria labelled as giant of Africa cannot produce their own vaccine.
