PCN shuts 309 pharmacies, patent medicine stores over unethical conduct

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria sealed off 309 medicine stores which includes 38 pharmacies and 271 patent medicine shops  in Ogun State over unethical misconduct.

PCN Registrar,  Elijah Mohammed, said this while addressing journalists  on the council’s efforts over sanitisation in the state. Also added that the  premises  sealed off were  in Abeokuta, Ilaro, Sango – Ota, Ifo, Iperu – Remo, Sagamu, Ikenne, Odogbolu, Ijebu – Ode, Ilese, Ibafo, Mowe, Ofada among others.

He explained that the offences allegedly committed range from operating without registration with the PCN; failure to renew premises license, dispensing products without the supervision of a pharmacist, poor storage and sanitary conditions.

Mohammed said the exercise was meant to ensure “that all premises where medicines are sold are registered, having fulfilled conditions with respect to location, storage facilities, environment, documentation and personnel.”
