The Kano state police have rescued a man allegedly held captive by his own father for 15 years.
According to statements by Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesman of the Kano police command, Ibrahim Lawan, the rescued man, had been confined to a room for 15 years.
His father identified as “Mallam Lawan” is the chief imam of a mosque in the state.
Mr. Kiyawa said the 33-year-old man has since been moved to the hospital and the incident is being investigated.
