1,487 Corps Members to Serve in Gombe

No fewer than 1487 prospective corps members are expected by the National Youth Service Corps for the 2023 Batch C Stream I orientation course at Amada, Akko Local  Government Area, Gombe State.

Our correspondent reports that the mandatory three-week orientation course opens nationwide on Wednesday, November 1. It is expected to end on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

According to a press statement signed by the state Head of Public Relations Unit, Jennifer Laha, on Tuesday, the state Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, is expected to preside over their swearing-in while the state Chief Judge, Halima Mohammed, would administer the oath of allegiance.

The statement partly read in part, “In Gombe state, the course is scheduled to be held at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Science Technical College, Amada, Akko  LGA and a total of 1487 prospective corps members are deployed to the state.

“The formal opening/Swearing-in ceremony comes up on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 10:00 am. The Governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Yahaya, is expected to preside over the event while the Chief Judge of the state will administer the oath of allegiance to the corps members deployed to the state for national service.”

While assuring the PCMs of safety, Laha urged for the usual cooperation of stakeholders towards making the 1487 participants comfortable.

“We, therefore, enjoin the peace-loving people of Gombe state especially those around Akko LGA and environs to accord the prospective corps members the usual hospitality that Gombe state is known for,” Laha added.
