A mom has shared her love for her baby’s name despite it being illegal.
Australian mother Isabella Veronica Hayes, 23, shared a now-viral TikTok talking about the controversial name she gave her 11-month-old son: Holden Commodore.
In the video which has gone viral, the mom explains she originally wanted to call the baby “Commodore” but she discovered it was a banned name in Australia because it is the title given to a high-ranking naval officer.
Instead, she went with “Holden Commodore” as her child’s unusual chosen moniker claiming to have absolutely no regrets.
“He will be 1 year old very, very soon, and I do not regret it at all. I think Holden Commodore suits him perfectly,” she continued, adding that she expects she will propel into popularity.
“I know that people are going to probably start copying me with the name because it’s so cool,” she added.
Holden Commodore also is the name of a popular make of car manufactured in Australia between 1978 and 2017 ensuring some mocking from confused TikTok users.
“Please tell me you’re joking,” someone wrote in disbelief.
“Are you guys still coming to Toyota Hilux’s birthday on Saturday? Just needing to confirm numbers,” joked another, as one puzzled commenter added, “This has to be a joke.”

One person pointed out that while she likes the name she gave her son, he might not be so thrilled.
“U don’t regret it but Holden Commodore will,” they said.
Names in Australia can be banned if they are obscene or offensive; contain symbols; are considered reasonably likely to insult, humiliate, offend or intimidate a person or group; or are an official title or rank recognized in Australia.
According to the nongovernmental site USBirthCertificates, there are very few names that are actually banned in the United States.
However, that does differ from state to state hence why names like Elon Musk’s son X Æ A-12 would be allowed in some places but not others.
