  1. The death of Burundi’s President came as a shock to Africa. In African history, it’s one of the rare scenarios where a President dies while still in power. It was just a few weeks after Burundi citizens completed election for their new President in a heavily contested elections. A catastrophic political crisis in Burundi would have been unavoidable or inevitable if (God forbid) the ruling President died before the elections were conducted. Knowing the history of Burundi’s political instability, there would be a political vacuum created. It’s great that now Burundi has sworn in their newly elected President!
